Richard Wayne Sumpter was born December 11, 1958, to Emmitt George and Retha Lorene (Clements) Sumpter. He grew up near Neals Creek in Bixby, Missouri.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory loving children: Kenneth Sumpter and wife Michelle of Bixby, MO and Rebecca Sumpter of Williamsburg, MO; sisters: Marilyn Dotson of Viburnum, MO and Melba Miller of Illinois; grandchildren: Kolten Sumpter, Preston Sumpter, Jayden Sumpter, Julie Sumpter, Sawyer Sumpter, Brittani Webb, Tiffani Webb, Emmitt Webb, and Tristin Webb; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
