Carolyn Clark, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023, at home in Virginia Beach, VA with family by her side. Carolyn was born on November 8, 1934 to Philip S. Eads Sr. and Gertrude McCool Eads.

Carolyn grew up in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, VA. Growing up in Ocean View she spent quite a bit of time swimming at the local Chesapeake Bay beaches. Swimming became a life-long passion and led her to the Senior Olympics where she competed on a national level winning many gold, silver, and bronze medals in various freestyle events. She was a graduate of Granby High School where she was head majorette. She was a talented tap dancer training at the Eva Mae Morris Dance School. When not tap dancing, she enjoyed, and was very proficient with, the hula hoop. She was a long-time member of Haygood United Methodist Church and served in the Women's group. Carolyn retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 34 years, where she worked as an office manager.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Donald E. Clark Sr. They met while Don was a young sailor in the US Navy. During their courtship Carolyn and Don enjoyed many good times roller skating, sun bathing and swimming at the beaches and enjoying visits to Ocean View Amusement Park. Don was the love of her life and she often referred to him as her Rock. Their travels took them to Bermuda, Bahamas, Maine, Hawaii, California, and many other locations. Together they loved spending time with their grandchildren, running them around town, attending their activities, and most especially taking them to the circus when it came to town. Also preceding Carolyn in death were her parents, Philip Sr. and Gertrude Eads, brothers Philip Eads Jr., Charles Eads, Kenneth Eads, sister Margaret Christensen, and grandson Joseph Graham Alley.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Deborah Clark Alley (Jerry), son Donald E. Clark Jr. (Mary Ellen), daughter Ann Clark Stairs (Jay), brother James S. Eads. She was affectionately known as "GanGan" to her grandchildren Ashley Alley (Tarek) , Greg Alley (Lauren), Laurel Stairs (Michael), Jason Stairs, Joshua Stairs, Elliot Clark, and Dennis Clark; great grandchildren Lucy Shuman, Gabriel Shuman, Stella Griffin, Coen Alley and Luna Alley; nephew Jack Christensen, and nieces Christina Lewis, Donna Pentland, and Robin Munson.

The family of Carolyn Clark would like to express their deepest gratitude to Centerwell Home Health Care and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion provided to Carolyn and her family.

A celebration of life will be held on December 15, 2023 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Chapel at 8464 Tidewater Dr, Norfolk, VA 23518. Interment will be alongside her husband Don at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
