Leon J. Bressett dies (Watertown Daily Times, Monday Feb 4, 1974): Gouverneur: Leon J. Bresset, 83, form town of Macomb farmer, died Sunday at 12:30pm in the Kinney Nursing Home where he had been transferred in December from the Edward John Noble Hospital. He had been a patient at the Barlow Nursing home, Canton, before entering the hospital.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2pm at Sprague Funeral Home, Rev. Stanley E. Brown, Pastor, United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Lake Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours at the funeral home at this afternoon and tonight.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Merlyn (Myrtle) Knowlton, and a son, Harold, both of Macomb; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born in the town of Macomb Aug 31, 1890, the son of Joseph and Ella Lee Bresett, he attended school at Rossie and farmed at Macomb and Rossie until the early 1940's. After living at Bigelow for a few years he returned to the home farm at Macomb in 1948 with Nellie Fuller as housekeeper.

His first wife, Lula Simons, whom he had married June 10, 1909, died May 10, 1938. His second wife, Esther Whitton, died in 1946. They ahd been married in February 1942.

Mr. Bresett was a member of Depeyster Lodge 573, F&AM; a 50-yr member of the Pope Mills Grange, and attended Macomb Methodist Church.
