Raymond V. "Buster" English, Sr. passed away on December 11, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee,
Illinois.
Raymond was born on November 30, 1926 to Raymond and Essie nee Shelby English in Pope County,
Illinois. He married Grayce English on May 23, 1981.
He was in the U.S. Army. He was sent to Redemption Depot and sent to Crow Valley Manila to join with
the 25 th Lightning Division 35 th Infantry Regiment Company C. They were called "Lightning" because the
enemy didn't know where they would hit next. He landed at Lingayen Gulf and then shipped to Japan
where he remained until he was honorably discharged on December 7, 1946.
He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to tease you if he could get your "goat". He had a great
memory. On March 31, 2019, he was awarded an official Cherokee Indian name of White Eagle by Rev.
Don Lyborger. He retired from Ford Motor Company on June 17, 1989, after working 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Grayce English of Clifton, Illinois. Son, Raymond (Joann) English, Jr. of
Kankakee, Illinois, daughter Kona (Bob) Siwicki of Momence, Illinois, Robin (Don) Dacz of Grant Park,
Illinois, Son Randall English of Hebron, Indiana, Step Daughter Brenda Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
Step Daughter Linda (Bill) Lawrence of Indiana, Step Son Thomas Six of Bloomington, Illinois and Step
Son, Rev. Daniel Diss of San Jose, California. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren
and great great grandchildren and brother, Victor (Shelly) English of Golconda, Illinois as well as many
nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Essie English, Daughter, Ramona Hock, Step
Daughter Madonna Plumley, three sister, Verley Hicks, Faye Daniels and twin sister, Tootsie Spivey and
brother Vinson English.
He as a member of the American Legion, Aroma Park, Illinois nd Past Royal Patron of Willmington
Chapter 13 Order of Amerath.
Services are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday December 17, 2023 at Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare, IL with interment in Shelby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from Noon Sunday until service time at the funeral home.
Military Rites will be held at the cemetery on Sunday.
