Gene C. Harbach, 97, of Bedford PA, formerly of Bellwood PA, entered into rest on Friday, December 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Born on November 3, 1926 in Loganton PA, he was a son of the late Ray L. Harbach and Cathryn (Barner) Harbach. On March 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty J. Lamey, who survives.

Gene was a graduate of Sugar Valley High School and Mansfield University. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 6, 1945 in Harrisburg PA and honorably discharged on June 26, 1947 in Augusta GA, with the rank of Technician 4th Class. Gene played clarinet alongside his brother Bill while serving in the 320th and 336th Army Service Forces Bands.

Surviving in addition to his wife Betty, are three daughters: Judy A. (Carl) Fairbanks, Marjorie M. (Gary) Burkey, and Jane M. (Curtis) Robinson; four grandchildren: Jonathan Cherry, Cathryn Cherry Hood, Krista Cherry Lipchick, and Leah Robinson Alessandrini; and eight great grandchildren: Samuel and Norah Cherry; Dessie and Mabel Hood; and Thomas, Adam, Isaac, and Aaron Lipchick.

Private burial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
