GLADYS G. RAINS, age 84, of Bessemer, Alabama, died on May 31, 1998. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Service Bessemer Chapel with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Rev. A. W. Doss officiating. Visitation was on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Rains.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Peggy Jo Woods of Forestdale, Mrs. Joyce Newton and husband, James C. Newton of Bessemer, and Miss Judy Rains of Bessemer; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Boissel of Hueytown; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
