Services for Bonnie Welch Mertens were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2008, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with R. Dean Cooper, Dr. Michael Joe Screpetis and Reverend Chris Thacker officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, LA.

Mrs. Mertens, 93, died in her residence Wednesday morning, April 23, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesse Joseph "Jay" Mertens, son, Jack Jay Mertens, two sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Mertens was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a former member of Quota Club of Alexandria, and Good Sam Travel Club.
