Charles Lee Edmiston died at the family home in Sonora Wednesday evening at 9:45 o'clock. He was 53 years of age, and had suffered from repeated attacks of paralysis, the cause of his demise.
The deceased is survived by a wife, Mrs. Emma Edmiston, and two children, Lee Edmiston and Mrs. Viola Weston. The funeral took place this Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the family residence, interment being in the Masonic cemetery. To its last resting place the body of Lee Edmiston, as the deceased was popularly known, was followed by many who remember vividly his acts of friendship and loyalty.
Days of boyhood and young manhood the deceased spent in Sonora. Later he went to Bridgeport, Mono county, and was for years identified with the life of that rugged territory. There, as in his home town, he made friendships that will cause sorrow at his passing, as they lighted the way during life.
Lee Edmiston was not a big man in material possessions. His natural unselfishness foretalled the accumulation of unfeeling gold. But he was "big" in his feeling for his fellows and in going to the other land leaves "wealth" in this world.
His mother, Cordella S. Walker Edmiston, passed away in Sonora, May 22, 1897, at aged 70 years.
