GILKERSON, A.S. "Sine"
S. "Sine" Gilkerson, 84, retired lumber dealer of Paintsville, KY, died at 4 p.m. April 30 in Louisa, KY at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Addie Burgess. His death followed an illness of the past year. Mr Gilkerson was well-known and highly respected throughout the Big Sandy Valley. A son of the late Thomas Jefferson Gilkerson and Mrs. Manda Compton Gilkerson, he was born and reared at Prichard, WV, moving to this county when he was 14 years of age. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. His wife, Mrs. Annie Brown Gilkerson, died in 1914. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at the home of his daughter in Louisa with the Rev. W.M. Burgess officiating. Interment was made in the family cemetery at Gallup, KY. He is survived by one son, Dudley Gilkerson of Paintsville, KY, one daughter, Mrs. Addie Burgess of Louisa, three grandchldren, Miss Lucy Burgess of Louisa, S. Sgt. Lawrence Burgess of Moultrie, GA and Dudley Burgess of Frankfort, KY.
