Funeral services for Mary "Betty" Wanker, 83, of Leland will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Glendale Baptist Church. She passed away on December 20, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

She was a devout Christian. Proverbs 31:28-29 says, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all."

Betty was the family's rock. She was the epitome of what a true wife and mother should be. She was famous for her cooking skills. Some of people's favorites were her chocolate pies, pecan pies, chicken and dressing with brown gravy, potato salad, and chicken salad. She was also known for her love of researching family genealogy and capturing pictures of her family and friends. In school, Betty played basketball. Her boys remember shooting basketball in the driveway and Betty coming out and
shooting baskets with them. They said she never missed a basket. Later in life after having children, she played softball with her "Sweetheart" as one of her coaches. Another of her many talents was sewing. She was an excellent seamstress. She sewed for many years for the public, even making Kathy's wedding dress.

Betty is preceded in death by her Sweetheart Wayne, her parents Wynis and Kate Cummings, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her four children Bruce (Lisa), Kathy (Ted), Gary, and Davy (Nancy); ten grandchildren, Crystal (Jeff), Jeff (Jennifer), Destin (Brandon), Jason (Lesily), Christin (Justin), Wayne (Brittney), Ashley (Bubba), Crystal (Jermaine), Dawson (Melissa), and Benny; twenty-five great-grandchildren, Angela, Tanner, Hailly, Trey, Kirsten, Wyatt, Scooter, Brayden, Axton,
