Evelyn R. Kummer, age 97 of Manitowoc passed away on Monday morning, December 25, 2023, at the Court of Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Evelyn was born on May 31, 1926, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Simon and Tillie (Schamburek) Stauss. She grew up in Whitelaw. On January 20, 1951 Evelyn was married to Harold E. Kummer at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Harold preceded her in death on March 6, 2023. She worked at J.C. Penney in Manitowoc and was active at Holy Innocents Catholic Church cleaning and working funeral dinners. Evelyn also worked for the Holy Innocents lunch program for many years where the students loved working with her. Her greatest gift in life was to be a good wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and good friend.

Evelyn was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc; and it's St. Clare Society, VFW Otto-Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Lee (Eileen) Kummer, Manitowoc; Gary (Susan) Kummer, St. Petersburg, FL; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail (Curt) Akre, Greenfield; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Laverne Schettl, MN, Shirley (Fred) Richmond, Manitowoc, one brother-in-law: Dennis Kummer, Two Rivers; one sister-in-law: Arlene Erdmann, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Harold Kummer; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Rita (Clifford) Maule, Lorraine (Paul) Erdmann, Myron Schettl; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Raymond (Marion) Kummer, Eugene (Carol) Kummer, Richard Erdmann.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial with cremation to follow and burial of her cremated remains at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roncalli Catholic Schools or the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
