Carol is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Eleanor (Troesch) Hemmeter, husband, William Grant Alvord, Sr,. in-laws, Harrison and Eloise (Hamilton) Alvord and brother-in-law, Samuel Randolph.
Carol Elizabeth (Hemmeter) Alvord was born on November 15, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated as Valedictorian from West High School, after which she attended Ohio University in Athens. Carol met her beloved husband of 55 years, William Grant Alvord, Sr. while working at Central National Bank of Lakewood, Ohio. Carol and Grant relocated to Virginia then West Virginia before returning to Ohio in 1976 with their three children, Grant Jr., Wende and Rick.
Carol was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church and Chapter DE of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was an avid reader, and inherited a remarkable green thumb from her father, which cultivated her nurturing instincts. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, Auntie and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker for many years during which time she was a member of bridge club, bowling league, Welcome Wagon and den mother. As her children grew older, she went to work at Cardiology, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio before joining her husband in retirement in 1995.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Central College Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Kobacker House or a charity of your choice.
