Joseph E. "Joey" Meyer died peacefully in his sleep on December 29th, 2023.
"Coach Joe" was born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up around the game of basketball. He's a graduate of DePaul Academy and later played for and was an assistant coach under his father at DePaul University. He would later succeed his father as head coach. As head coach, he led DePaul to seven NCAA Tournament appearances in his first eight seasons.
After his time at DePaul he coached in the NBA development league, was a scout for the LA Clippers, and was also a radio announcer for Northwestern University basketball.
