Alvina Bramer Obituary
Alvina Viola Bramer, formerly of Manila Street, Manitowoc, peacefully entered her eternal life on the evening of March 7, 2014. She was born September 27, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN, the second daughter of the late Clarence and Sarah (Busse) Bramer. She attended school in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1938 from Lincoln High School. After high school she worked at Mirro Aluminum Company, retiring in 1983. Her faith and church were very important to her and she demonstrated that in the way that she treated people and lived her life. She was a member of the Lakeshore United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir, studied to be a lay preacher, and served as their bookkeeper for several years. Alvina never had children, but her sister Netttie (Bill) Heili's six children were an ever-important part of her life. She took them on some of her many trips, made Easter baskets for them, took them to the State Fair, and provided many opportunities that may have otherwise been unavailable to them. It was obvious that she enjoyed spending time with them, and that they were a significant part of her life. She was a wonderful, loving, caring Aunt and Great-Aunt, and a very kind, caring person to everyone around her. Alvina lived a very active life and placed a priority on helping other people and organizations, including helping with the Meals on Wheels program, and also actively engaged in life's many adventures. With friends, and sometimes nieces and nephews, she traveled to many destinations, always taking lots of pictures, which she eagerly shared with family and friends. She was always taking pictures, so if you were with her you could be assured that you would have your picture taken. Alvina loved learning and was very inquisitive. After her retirement she took several classes at the University of Wisconsin, Manitowoc. She loved going to the Manitowoc Public Library, read many books, and proudly displayed and talked about the many artworks that she checked out from the library. She enjoyed taking walks, going to the beach, swimming, going bowling, and spending time with family and friends. She loved all kinds of animals and had several pet parakeets, which she taught to speak. Alvina took up golfing with a passion. She played in a morning golf league and with family and friends, and earned several trophies. She loved golf so much that she was determined to teach everyone she knew how to play. She was a good cook and baker; her red velvet cake was a family favorite. Survivors include her nieces: Sue (Patrick) Zur, Two Rivers; Nancy Neuser, Hartland; Sharyn Heili (Bruce Furrer), Wausau; and nephews: Jim Heili (Barbara Holladay), Ridgesville, SC; Peter Heili, Two Rivers; Steven Heili (Bernie Cook) Burnsville, MN; and grand nieces and nephews: Cathi (Bill) Mahlik; Barb (Scott) Broehm; Laura (Bob) Monagle; Brad Neuser; Sarah (Jesse) Daniels; Heather (Brian) Lutze; Patrick Hills; Bob Heili; Ashley (Tom) Moen; Peter (Pang) Heili and many more relatives and friends. Alvina was preceded in death by her parents: Sarah and Clarence Busse; sisters: Nettie Bramer Heili and Pearl Bramer; brother-in-law: William Heili; her nieces and nephews: Larry Neuser; Ervin and Etta Busse; and Adeline (Busse) and Henry Gorte.Funeral services celebrating Alvina's life will be held at 11:00am at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 1130 South 9th Street, Manitowoc, WI.
