- Buried in Cemetery He Helped to Plan -
- Augusta, Ill., Aug. 16. -
The remains of Henry Hillyer, who died at the home of his daughter, Florence, in Bloomington, reached Augusta on the noon train Thursday. He was for many years a resident here.
The remains were taken to the beautiful Cedar cemetery, which he helped to lay out and prepare, near Huntsville, for their final rest amid surroundings of his active life. He was an architect and builder, and in and around Huntsville are many comfortable homes that stand as monuments to his skill and industry.
Originally from New York City, he came with his brother George, to Illinois in an early day and his first work was the planning and building of the large farm residence now occupied by Arthur King, which he erected in 1856.
He married Harriet Sanford, and many descendants of parents who were associates of this worthy family assembled at the cemetery to pay their final tribute of respect and listen to the address of Rev. Shaw of the Presbyterian Church, of which Mr. Hillyer was for many years a faithful member.
