Helen was the daughter of Finnish immigrants Waino and Lempi Maria "Mary" (Maenpaa) Hermanson.

"Funerals — AHO, in Santa Rosa, June 14, 1975, Helen B. Aho, loving mother of Betty Christensen [1937-2000] of Santa Rosa, two other daughters and a son; also survived by one sister, Siiri Salo [1905-1994] of San Francisco, California; also survived by 8 grandchildren.
A native of San Francisco, California. Age 81 years. A member of the Finnish Brotherhood, and the Bennett Valley Garden Club. Friends are invited to attend services Tuesday, June 17, 1975, at 2:00 p.m. from the DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, with Pastor Charles W. Keturakat, of St. Marks Lutheran Church, officiating. Private inurnment Chapel of the Chimes."
