SAN ANGELO - Janette Isbell Payne went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2006. Janette was a Christian and southern Baptist all of her life. She was born to William Henry and Nettie Bell Miers Isbell on Jan. 23, 1923, in Jones County, Texas. She grew up in Gorman, Texas, where she played basketball and graduated salutatorian of her high school class. Janette married Ronald Payne on Feb. 21, 1953. They resided in Snyder, San Antonio and San Angelo during their 50 years of marriage. Janette and Ronald had one son, Ronny Payne, and one daughter, Jean Ann Gassiot. Janette worked at Meadow Creek Nursing Center for the past 16 years. She loved each of the patients whom she cared for. Janette was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She always let those that she loved know how very precious they were. Survivors include son Ronny Payne (Mikki) of Belton, Texas; daughter Jean Ann Gassiot (Billy) of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Ryan and Leah Payne, and Zan and Heath Gassiot; and one brother, Dearrell Isbell. Janette was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; brothers William, Floyd, James and Pat Isbell; and sisters Ruby Rogers, Frances Isbell and Nina Brownlee. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorials be made to West Texas Boys Ranch or your favorite charity.
