Patricia Eileen DeWeese (Kennedy), 80, of Midlothian, Texas, passed away peacefully in Pittsburg, Texas, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, with her daughter by her side. Family called her Patricia, friends called her Pat, and her grandchildren called her Neader, which became a popular nickname.
Patricia was born October 29, 1943, in Direct, Texas of Lamar County. Patricia was the youngest of nine children born to Lee Stark Kennedy and Effie Odell Cutrell. Patricia was raised on a peanut farm. She graduated from Central High School in Sumner, Texas as Valedictorian in 1961. Patricia moved to Dallas and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in her early years as a telephone operator and retired 39 years later as a switching equipment technician. She was married to Donald Gene DeWeese and raised their two children in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Patricia loved spending time with her sisters, daughter, granddaughters and great granddaughter. She was an avid reader and music lover, especially old country and New Orleans blues music. She was a devoted board member of the nonprofit, For Maddie's Sake, Inc. (FMS). She enjoyed helping to create dances for the nonprofit organization, taking dance pictures, and making picture books as keepsakes. She inspired the FMS college scholarships awarded to Midlothian students over the years.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Eileen Dixon and husband, Richard; two granddaughters, Tara Eileen DeWeese and Madeleine Chesney Dixon (Maddie); and one great granddaughter, Amnah.
She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Bradley DeWeese.
