"Richard M. Abbott Dies; Bensalem Floriculturist
HULMEVILLE, Jan. 4 — Richard Mauleverer Abbott, Bensalem Township, died in St. Luke's Hospital, Philadelphia, yesterday.
Only son of the late Charles Conrad Abbot, of "Three Beaches." Trenton N.J., Richard Abbott shared his father's interest in natural history in all its phases. Although by occupation a floriculturist, his interests were wide and his reading extensive, resulting in an unusually well informed mind.
A hobby of collecting stamps earned for him the presidency of the Bucks County Philatelic Society ; while genealogical interests and ancestry entitled him to membership in the Baronial Order of Runnemede, of which organization he was an officer at the time of his death.
For many years Mr. Abbott was one of the auditors of Bensalem Township Board of Supervisors.
The late Mr. Abbott was husband of Laura Woodward Abbott. His survivors also include a son. Ensign Charles Conrad Abbott, who is located at the Naval Training School, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. and two sisters, Miss Julia B Abbott Bristol ; Mrs Joseph P. Canby Bensalem Township. The deceased's mother was the late Julia Olden Abbott, and he was born in Princeton N.J. Ancestry of the deceased is traced to the 13th century.
Mr. Abbott, who had been a hospital patient since December 26th, was in his 72nd year.
The services arranged for Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock will be held at the Abbott residence, Newportville Road, Bensalem Township, according to the Society of Friends interment will be made in the Friends Burial Ground, Langhorne, with Harold H. Haefner, funeral director, in charge. Friends may call Tuesday evening."
