Donna Macey provided the following information:
<<
WILLIAM COUCH MACEY was a stone mason by trade and immigrated to Upper Canada sometime after the 1851 British Census and before his marriage to SARAH VINCENT in Ontario in 1857. It appears that William's father and his younger brother, RICHARD LANGMEAD MACEY, followed William to Upper Canada a few years later as they both appear in the 1871 Census of Ontario. John Macey died in Barrie, Ontario in 1879.
William, Richard and their families then moved across the continent to the west coast of British North America. William, Sarah and their 11 surviving children arrived in Victoria in 1884, then moveD to what is now Vancouver in 1886. William and Sarah's first grandchild has the dubious distinction of being the first white male baby born in the City of Vancouver. The majority of MACEYs now residing in the province of BRITISH COLUMBIA are direct descendents of William Couch Macey and Sarah Vincent.
