Betty Lou Adkins of Hamlin, WV, was born on October 24, 1943 and passed away on December 4, 2023, at the age of Eighty years, One month and Ten days. She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Shanholtz and Hazel Frances (Burns) Shanholtz, and is also preceded in death by her husband; Donald Ray Adkins, one daughter; Kimberly Beth Adkins, one grandson; Frederick Donald "Donny" Carper, one sister; Dorothy Marie "Dot" Black, one half-brother; John Dayton Alabaugh, special aunt; Lucy Jane Burns Plumley, and special great-niece; Nikki Suzanne Clay. She graduated salutatorian in 1961 from Hamlin High School. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord.

She is survived by one son; Timothy "Tim" Ray (Stephanie) Adkins, one daughter; Cynthia Dawn (Freddy) Carper, four grandchildren; Bethany Dawn Carper, Miranda Rose Carper, Ethan Wesley Adkins, Olivia Grace Adkins, Alex and Jonathan Carper, one brother; Don Wesley Shanholtz, special niece; Myra Sue Elkins, and special friend; Charlene Hazelett.

Funeral service will be 12:00 P.M., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV, with Pastor Ron Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Adkins Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV.
