MRS. EDWARD J. GALVIN
Mrs. Olive Deming Galvin, wife of Edward J. Galvin of Elizabethtown, quietly "went to sleep" at the Champlain Valley hospital in Plattsburgh Monday, August 29th, after many long months of suffering...
Mrs. Galvin was the adopted daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Austin Deming, and grew to womanhood in our village, where she was loved and respected by all. She graduated from the Elizabethtown high school and from Plattsburgh high school. Later she attended Syracuse University. For some years she taught in the Elizabethtown school, both in the eigth grade and in the high school. She also taught at Jay, Scotia, Keene Valley, White Plains, Summit, N.J. and in the Teachers' Training School in Richford, Vermont. She was considered an efficient and conscientious teacher, and an excellent disciplinarian, who was able to hold the respect and confidence of her pupils.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and beloved adopted daughter, Mary Margaret, and many loyal friends.
The funeral was held at Saint Elizabeth's church on Thursday morning at nine o'clock, Rev. Cleary, curate at St. John's church in Plattsburgh, officiating. Interment was in the Deming plot in Riverside cemetery. The bearers, all her former pupils, were: Lee Norton, John Denton, Leonard Denton, William Dickerson, John Deming and John Morris.
The family have the sincere sympathy of her many friends and former pupils.
