Arthur Boyd Johnson, Jr., age 79, of Richmond, VA, died April 8, 2005.

Born in Statesboro, GA, but grew up in Spartanburg, SC; son of Arthur Boyd Johnson, Sr. (1898–1974) and Flora Alma Edmunds Johnson (1899–1984); husband of Betty Cantrell Johnson, his childhood sweetheart.

After graduating from Boiling Springs High School, served in World War II as an aviation cadet for the U. S. Air Force, obtained a degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an engineer with the Virginia Department of Highways, retiring in 1989, after 39 years of service.

Also survived by his sons, Robert Boyd Johnson and John Forrest Johnson; daughter, Julie Pehrson Tybout; three beloved grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Johnson Upton (1922–2014) and Marjorie Montine Johnson Hembree (1934–2019); and a brother, Phillip Edwin Johnson (1943–2011).

Graveside service was held at 3:30 pm, Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Oakwood Cemetery.
