Charles Elton Harvey Sr., 86, of Vidor, passed away on Sunday, January 7th, 2024. A dedicated member of the community, Charles was a seven decade resident of Vidor.
Throughout his working years, Charles was employed in maintenance at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he retired from the laundry department. He also worked as a crane operator for Laclede Steel. He was known for being a builder and tinkerer.
Charles had a passion for car racing, and every time the Highway 90 race track opened, he was there, eagerly watching the races unfold. Above all, he had a passion for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cheered them on at every concert, sporting event, competition, play and recital.
Everyone who knew Charles, experienced his caregiving nature. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was kind, with a gentle spirit that everyone felt. His sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met.
Visitation to honor Charles will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles "Chuck" Elton Harvey Jr. and wife Debra of Austin, TX, and Ginger Gayle Oulapour and husband Abbas of Vidor, TX. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Charles Ian Harvey and his wife Rebecca, Ashley Oulapour Nele and her husband Tony, Patrick Dylan Harvey and his wife Aleece, Alex Juston Oulapour and his wife Pla. His memory lives on through 5 great-grandchildren: Liam Nele, Eleanor Nele, Quillen Harvey, Marzi Harvey, and Oran Harvey.
Charles was preceded in death by the woman he adored, his wife, Patricia Harvey.
