Son of James Echols and Elizabeth Milner.

Author of the "Milner Echols Narrative" detailing the history of the Echols family of Georgia. Elector from Walton County.

He married Susannah Sansom (1768-1866) around 1791.

They had the following known children:

1) Samuel Dorrell Echols (1792-1869). He married Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Richard Wood and Tabitha Glass and a distant cousin through the Echols line.

2) James Echols (abt.1793-abt.1793) From Milner's narrative: "Milner's second son was named James, died an infant by a fall out at the door."

3) Richard Echols (abt.1794-abt.1794) From Milner's narrative: "His third son was named Richard, died an infant also. His complaint was the flux."

4) Robert Milner Echols (1798-1847) Married Mary Melton in 1816. Joined the US Army and rose to the rank of Brigadier General. While fighting during the Mexican War, he was fatally injured in a fall from his horse while on dress parade at National Bridge, Mexico. Echols County, Georgia is named in his honor.

5) Thomas Jefferson Echols (1801-1889) Married Mary Harper in 1821 and died in Arkansas.

6) William Sansom Echols (1806-1882) Married Catherine Holder in 1821 and died in Cobb County GA.

7) Leah Echols (abt.1809-abt.1812) From Milner's narrative: "Milner Echols first daughter named Leah died before she was three years old. Her death was caused by a burn."

8) Obediah Echols (abt.1809-abt.1839) Married Hannah Holder in 1827. From Milner's narrative: "Obediah Echols, son of Milner, died in Milledgeville in the 31st year of age. Was a very good businessman, was appointed Surveyor Genl. before he was thirty years of age.

9) Martha (Echols) Ammons (abt.1810-1870) Married Joshua Ammons in 1824 and died in Griffin GA.

10) Nancy (Palmer) Ross (abt.1811-aft.1880) She may have been adopted. Married Absolom Ross in 1828. Died in Roma GA.
