She was born May 9, 1946 in Auburn, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Curtis) Bickel. Sandy had been a lifelong resident of Genoa and graduated from Genoa Central School. Sandy retired in 2002 from Mann Library technical services after 28 years at Cornell University to become a professional grandmother. She loved her family more than anything and was a wonderful wife, mom and grandma. Sandy left many memories behind for her family and will be missed by all that ever knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas "Ed" Driscoll; her children, Timothy Driscoll (Jennifer) and Kathleen Thompson (Robert); grandchildren: Bryan & Kaley Driscoll, and Lauren & Jonathan Thompson; and her sister, Joan Moore (Bill), of Moravia. The family expresses their special thanks to Sandy's caregivers over the years, including Mandy Karandeyev, Melanie Quinn, Leanne Swan, Lauren Thompson, and Janice Botsford.
Private services will be held for the family, with spring interment in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, King Ferry. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life this Saturday, January 27 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Locke Volunteer Fire Department, 1060 State Rt 38, Locke, NY.
In remembrance of Sandy's life, the family suggests that any charitable donations be made to Genoa Fire Department Rescue Fund.
