Alma Jean Carey McCoy found peace and comfort in the arm of the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Alma was born on July 10, 1936, to Mr. Josh and Hannah Carey in Jackson, MS.
She received her formal education from the Jackson, MS; School district. Alma also received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Jackson State University and her Master's Degree in Human Relations from the University of OK.
She was also a retired teacher of 21 years from the Dallas Independent School District.
Alma was also a charter member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
She was united in holy matrimony to Hosie McCoy. To this union, there were four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, and three sisters; her loving husband, Hosie McCoy; and son, Hosea McCoy.
At an early age, she accepted Christ at Mt. Bethel Church of Christ in Jackson, MS; Under the pastorate of her father, Rev. Josh Carey.
Alma was a military wife and traveled and lived in many places during the career of her husband, Hosie McCoy.
Upon moving to Dallas in 1977, she became a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Concord Mass Choir where she served as a section leader for over 12 years. Alma was also a participant in the Concord Senior Center since its inception. She served as secretary and vice president.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Pamela Ross; and two sons, Duane McCoy, and Kenny Carey McCoy; grandchildren, Jeremy, Nick, Dominique, and Daryn; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
