Her Arrival

We sometimes receive the most unexpected gifts from life. These gifts bring joy, shines alight on our worst days, and provide us with immeasurable love. A baby girl made her dramatic arrival on August 9, 1993, as her mom prepared to return to the hospital for her birth. She was named Alexandria Meghan Symonette.

Her Early life

Zanny, as she was affectionately called, was a kind, well-mannered, and lively child. She never left her mother's side and was always a mama's girl. Everyone liked Alex, or Zanny as her family nicknamed her, but especially her cousins, with whom she shared a close bond. Her laugh reverberated across any space, and her grin was contagious.

Education

Zanny's early education began at Precious Jewels Preschool under the guidance of Mrs. Iris Dean. This was the beginning of her firm educational foundation. This was also a time of bounding with her cousin Krissy who attended the same school. She was subsequently enrolled at St. Thomas Moore Primary School, where she graduated in 2005. Zanny did a brief stint at Bahamas Academy and completed her formative education at The Jordan Prince William High School where she graduated in 2011. She made an impact on many during her time at Jordan Prince William and remained in contact with her inner circle until her transition.

In 2015 Zanny gave birth to an amazing, beautiful baby girl and her life was indeed better! She named her Amarae Kayochee Michelle who was her pride and joy. After the birth of Amarae, Zanny pursued higher education and enrolled at Holland College on Prince Edward Island, Canada where she studied Information Technology. As a devoted, responsible mother, Zanny took her daughter to Canada and did an amazing job nurturing her newborn daughter while pursuing her education.

Employment

Zanny was taught life principles by her mom and was reminded that hard and honest work is pivotal if one is to succeed in life. Alex got her first job at Bahamas Food Services as an Accounts Clerk. It was there that she fell in love with making her own money and finding independence which she thrived on. Anyone who knew her knew that she wanted to live life her way and on her terms. This independence led to her launching out to other interests in the job market. While studying abroad, she became home sick and not being able to stay away from her family for such a long time, she insisted on coming back and built her life at home with her daughter and her family. Upon her return, she was hired by, Pediatrics Associates with Dr. Carlos Thomas. While there she had alove for the children and families that she encountered daily. Being the Office Assistant, she cherished every moment of making others comfortable and insisted that others did the same thing.

Her Spiritual Journey

Alex, like all the members of her family grew up knowing how to pray and knowing the importance of a relationship with Jesus. From birth she was in church where she attended Sunday school, sang in the children's choir and participated in all areas of ministry. She had a rich heritage of Christian influence and was "trained in the Kings Way." She accepted Christ at an early age.

Example was the best teacher, and she learned that it is not only good to say we have a relationship with God, but to share our experience with Him to others. Zanny shared with her brothers before she went in hospital, that the only thing that mattered was their relationship with God. As she got older, she realized that only what she did for Christ would last and she would tell anyone that her faith was built on a firm foundation.

Her Transition

Many times, we pray, "Your will be done" and we have in mind what we want His will to be and look like. However, we've come to realize that His will is perfect, and we won't question His perfection. It was three weeks ago, that Zanny wasn't feeling her best and was admitted to hospital. She experienced a health challenge that required treatment. While hospitalized she was visited daily by her family members and she was sure to let us know and assured them, that there was nothing between her soul and her Savior. God in his infinite wisdom saw that our beloved daughter, mother, sister and niece steps were getting short, and she needed perfect rest. With that, it was in the early hours of Monday, January 15th that she quietly chose Heaven and transitioned from time into eternity.

Rest easy my baby but until then, my heart will go on singing, until then, with joy we will carry on.
