This neighborhood was greatly shocked last Sunday to hear of the death of Frank Achten of Granada, while on his road to Chicago with cattle. He received a fall on the train fracturing his skull. His wife received a telegram, but when she arrived he was dead. Mr. Achten was an early pioneer in this county. His remains were sent to Granada, Kansas, where the Masons, of which he was a member conducted the funeral. I. E. Rolf preached the funeral. He leaves a young widow and many relatives to mourn his sad death in which the whole neighborhood extends their sympathy.

He had started for Chicago with a load of cattle, last week, and got hurt somewhere in Iowa and died suddenly from the injuries. No further particulars have yet been learned.
