Aline Frances Bourgeois Craven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the age of 95 at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, LA. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was born on July 5, 1927 to the late Oswald Francis Bourgeois and Edna Agnes Buck Bourgeois. A 1947 graduate of John McDonogh No. 28. She was married on November 10, 1951 to the late John Joseph Craven and they had eight children. Mother of the late devoted son, Patrick T. Craven. Survived by her other children: John M. Craven, George A. Craven (Nathalie), Aline C. Cowdrey (Bill), Joseph E. Craven (Rhonda), Catherine C. Ritter (Chris), Mary C. Welker (Vic), and Paul S. Craven (Belinda). Affectionately known by her grandchildren as Maw Maw. She was a loving grandmother to Michelle Leslie (Everett), Joseph Cowdrey (Sarah), Stephen Cowdrey, James Cowdrey, Matthew Cowdrey, Peter Cowdrey, Roxanne Avila (Edgar), Brianne Craven, Jessica Davis (Chris), Barbara Craven, Christopher Welker (Bel), Stephanie Ohlmeyer (Kyle), Matthew Welker, Caroline Welker, Daniel Craven (Alyssa), Isabella Craven, Margaret Ritter, Bridget Ritter, Louis Craven, and Marni Craven. Great-grandmother to Ja'Modd, Alaia, and Kinley Smith, Elliot and Emreigh Craven, Ilkay Welker, and Carter Davis. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Edna Mae B. Hyde, Margaret B. Fruge, Elodie Bourgeois, and Joyce B. Serio Cadenhead. Aline is also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Aline lived in Lakeview since 1963, and was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church for 60 years. Aline was a wonderful, beautiful, caring person. She was a full-time mom. She volunteered at her children's schools St. Dominic, Brother Martin and Mount Carmel Academy. She was devout in her Catholic faith. She loved making puzzles, watching EWTN and saying the rosary numerous times in the day.
