Published from Jones and Son Funeral Home Moose Jaw Sask- Leone Ella Simington of Moose Jaw, and formerly of Kincaid, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Leone was born on April 9, 1926 to Roy and Emma Batdorf on her parent's farm in the Beechy District, Saskatchewan. In 1934, her parents packed up the family which included four boys and two girls (the eldest having married and stayed in the Beechy District) and moved to Fairy Glen, Saskatchewan to farm. Leone and her two younger brothers attended school in Argus and Fairy Glen. Leone finished high school in Fairy Glen and went on to teacher's college in 1944. She taught school in Medstead for one year. She followed her parents and younger brothers to the Kincaid district the following year where she also taught school. It was here she met and married Glen Simington on September 18, 1946 where they operated the family farm for 48 years. They semi-retired to the village of Kincaid in 1976 where they built themselves a new home. They retired to Moose Jaw in 1994. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, she is survived by two brothers Russell (Irene) Batdorf of Port Alberni, BC and Lewis (Josie) Batdorf of Fountain Valley, California; her two sons: Erroll (Ruth), Gerry (Linda), and her daughter, Gaylynn (Lou); grandchildren: Nathan (Larisa), Jane, Krista, Geoff, Tyler, Matthew and Shelly; and one great-grandson, Adrian. A Celebration of Leone's life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11:00 am. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Memorialization will take place beside her husband Glen at Prairie Memorial Indoor Columbarium. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 Third Ave., N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, to Canadian Blood Services,1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, ON, K1G 4J5, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated. In living memory of Leone, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
