Following an extended illness, Doris Jean Tielbur, age 94, of Greenville, formerly of Pitsburg, passed away peacefully at the Brethren Retirement Community, on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Doris Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Lois (Knaus), of Astoria, Illinois and Earl Martin Metzger, of Pitsburg; and by her husband, (Cpl) Delbert (Deb) Wayne Tielbur, of Cornell, Iowa, whom she meet while working at Wright-Patterson AFB ("WPAFB") in Dayton, Ohio, and married at Trinity Evangelical Union Church in Pitsburg, on Saturday, January 12, 1951; by a grandson, Aaron Ross; and also by a stillborn daughter.

She retired in 1988 after a career in procurement at WPAFB. She attended SonRise Church in Ithaca.

Doris Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, and was very involved in their lives.

She was vivacious and very outgoing and never met a stranger.

Doris Jean was an icon in her beloved community of Pitsburg and she had a multitude of friends.

She loved her church family very much.

Doris Jean loved fishing (and trying to out-fish Deb). They spent many wonderful years at their place at Rice Lake, Canada, and there were many memorable times spent there.

She loved to sing, play the piano, sew, knit and do bible studies. Many years Pitsburg neighbors enjoyed Doris Jean's baby grand piano playing. She had a beautiful gift as a pianist and her singing was enjoyable.

Doris Jean had a vast knowledge of US History that she loved to share with others.

She had many beloved co-workers at WPAFB and she was known for her folder full or ornery jokes and cartoons. She will be deeply missed.

Doris is survived by a daughter, Becky (Tony) Schultz; son, Greg (Shaunna) Tielbur; grandchildren, Rachel (Bryan) Duncan, Kiel (Michele) Tielbur, Max Tielbur, Wesley (Amy) Schultz, Kendra (Rich) McKee & Brent Schultz; great-grandchildren, Evan & Chelsea Duncan, Gauge & Brynlee McKee; bonus brothers, Gary Tielbur & Eldean Glick along with numerous other relatives and friends, especially, Matt Cross, who she considered a surrogate son.
