Robert E. Vossler, 86, of 7159 Otisco Valley Road, Preble, N.Y., died Jan. 22, 1996, at Cortland Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Alma, the son of Martin and Ruth Perry Vossler and had been a resident of the Preble area for 64 years. Mr. Vossler attended Lakewood High School in Lakewood, N.J., and later graduated from Farmingdale Agricultural College on Long Island in 1928.
He was a member of the Cortland County Farm Bureau and of the Preble Co-Op for several years where he served as director. He was also a member of the former Preble Grange. Mr. Vossler owned and operated a dairy farm in Otisco Valley (Preble) for 63 years. Many years ago, he worked for the McDonald and Crocker Farms on the East River Road.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Lillian R. Breeds Vossler of Preble; four sons, Martin (Kay) of Preble, Eugene (Martha) of Morrisville, Vt., Robert Jr. (Mary) of Lompoc, Calif., Alfred (Sheila) of Atascadero, Calif.; one daughter, Gwendolyn (John) Updyke of Littlestown, Pa.; one brother, Stanley Vossler of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Fredericka Vossler and Rhoda Varn, both of Tucson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Preble Congregational Church with the Rev. Linda K. Gard, pastor, officiating.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship room of the church following the service. Contributions, in Mr. Vossler's name, may be directed to the Preble Congregational Church, P.O. Box 186, Preble, N.Y. 13141.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, Inc., 5016 North Main St., Homer.
