Elizabeth Jane (Eliza Jane) Hadden was the daughter of Joseph Hadden and Hanna Armstrong of Goland townland in Carnteel parish, County Tyrone. She was born about 1811-1812, judging by her being age 51 when she died in 1863.

Eliza Jane married Martin Worthington of Dernabane townland, probably early in 1829. Their son Joseph born in December 1829, so they were married by that date, and Eliza Jane was most likely at least age 18 when she married. I think they married 9-10 months before Joseph was born.

St. James Church of Ireland register, Carnteel Parish, Co. Tyrone:

"Joseph son of Martin Worthington of Dernabaan in this Parish, farmer, and Elizabeth Hadden his wife, born Dec 8 and privately baptised Dec 10, 1829. Registered at the same time by me Jno. Groves, Curate."

This was the ONLY child of Martin Worthington and Eliza Jane Hadden whose name appears in Carnteel Church of Ireland records. A "private" baptism usually meant that the child was from a Presbyterian family, which the Haddens were. The Worthingtons were Church of Ireland.

Martin and Eliza Jane lived at Dernabane, where he had been counted in the Tithe Applotments in 1827. He was counted in the 1829 Freeholders list with Joseph and John Hadden of Goland signing beside his name, so he was probably already their brother-in-law. Also signing beside Martin as a resident of Dernabane was another brother-in-law, Arthur McMahon, married to Jane Anne "Nancy" Worthington.

Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Hadden Worthington died in 1863 at Dernabane.
