My Grandmother was probably the greatest influence in my life. She set an example which, I believe, would be difficult for anyone to match. She was perfect.

Lois was the daughter of Rev. William Aaron and Mary Catherine Southerland Beck. She was a beautiful child, with long natural curley hair. It turned pure white in her later years and still had its curl.

Lois married Lucian Welby Jones, April 28, 1909. They farmed for a living.

She had 7 sons and no daughters. Her sons were; Kilbreth Lucian, Kenneth Beck, Keith Harold, James Kerwin, Charles Aaron, Ralph Southerland, and Claude Gwinn who died at 2. They were the Jones boys.

They were good workers whether in the field or in the kitchen. She was an excellent cook. She taught her sons to cook.

Part of her daily routine was crocheting, embroidery, gardening, canning food, quilting, housekeeping, sewing, and cooking for farmhands and family. The fact that she accomplished all this and had time left for her children and grandchildren was amazing.

She would play Bible games, dominos, marbles and she would take us fishing. When she worked she was always singing and happy. She was one of the most wonderful grandmothers ever.

Colon cancer took her from us at age 72.

THANK YOU PAUL WILLIAMS FOR SPONSORING MY JONES GRANDPARENTS SITE. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
