     Annetje Terhune was also known as Antje Albertse Terhune.

Antje Jans Terhune Schureman was the 2nd Great Granddaughter of :

Jan Janszoon van Haarlem, alias Moerat Reys [1] de jongere (c. 1570 - c. 1641)

A Dutch pirate who was captured by Algerian's and escaped death or enslavement by converting to 'Turk'. He rose to become a Barbary Corsair and one of the most notorious of the Barbary pirates from the 17th century; the most famous of the "Salé Rovers".

After years of behaving very badly, he left piracy a wealthy man. He became a respected elder statesman in Morocco, where his legacy is viewed upon quite favorably by the people there.
