Orofino - Dudley William Adams, 71, a retired Clearwater County forester, died Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. at Clearwater Valley Hospital a few minutes after being admitted with an apparent heart attack. His home was at Ahsahka.
Adams worked for the B.J. Carney Pole Co., Potlatch Corp. and the Forest Service since coming to Ahsahka in 1933. His first jobs in the county, however, were for the depression-born Works Progress Administration in building Ahsahka Bridge and working on the Lewiston-Orofino highway.
He was born July 30, 1903, at Dykes, Ky., to Mr. and Mrs. John B. Adams. He was married to Rebecca Dykes in 1924, and they later were divorced. He was married to Vera Mitchell in 1965. They also were divorced. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include two sons, William C. Adams of Lewiston, and John S. Adams of Orofino; a daughter, Lena M. Knight of Superior, Mont.; one brother, Lum Adams of Junction City Ky.; a sister, Martha Price of Summerset, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gilbert's Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Liberty of Orofino Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
