John "Peter" Aines Jr.

Sunday, October 31st, 1943 -  Monday, January 22nd, 2024

On January 22, 2024 John "Peter" Aines, Jr. passed away. Peter was a beloved brother and friend who will be sorely missed by all. Peter leaves behind his former wife Linda, a brother Robert Aines and partner Rosemary Farrell from New Jersey, a brother David Aines and wife Debbie from Maine, and a sister Mary Pat Cawley and husband Tom from Vermont. His nieces and nephews now with families of their own, are Ryan Aines, Kerri Tamn, Jason Aines, Jackie Anderson, Justin Cawley and Jordan Cawley. He always made an effort to attend their milestone events and has left them with wonderful memories to share.

Peter may have moved away from his Vermont birthplace but he found a second "family" in Maryland. Rivka Olley, a colleague and dear friend, her daughter Sarah and her son Cameron, her son Mark and partner Cydny and their son Grey welcomed him into their homes and hearts.

Over the years, he lived an adventurous life on his terms, always with a positive outlook of what the future would bring. Peter entered the US Air Force in 1964 and became a diver, serving in both Turkey and Vietnam. He maintained his love of scuba diving over the years, swimming with sharks and enjoying nature's beautiful reefs and marine life. He was a certified scuba diver as well as an instructor. The other loves in his full life were playing classical music on his piano, flying, skiing, traveling and family.

He graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in psychology, and then obtained a PhD from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and went on to a successful career in psychology in Vermont and later Maryland. After he retired from the Baltimore School System, he continued his work in his private practice in Towson MD.

Peter was passionate in pursuing his profession as a psychologist, and he influenced the lives of so many young people over the years. His dedication to his profession was an inspiration, and he will be remembered as kind, caring, thoughtful, and humorous.

He will always be in our hearts and dearly loved. May we strive to attain the standards he exemplified.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home Reisterstown Road Reisterstown, MD 21136 on Tuesday January 30th from 10-11am, Services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday January 30th at 11:00 A.M.
