Jim lived at Lake Cassidy in Lake Stevens when he was young. He went to school at the Old Hartford school. He played with his cousins the Van proyens who were neighbors.

His dad, brother, and Jim did alot of fishing on the lake by Stones dock.

He also did a lot of picking up rocks on his property, it was a means of teaching him how to work.

They use to do bee bee practice in the old house by shooting flies off the ceiling.

He moved to Marysville and went to high school there. He was a good basketball free throw person. He won a contest over older students.

He had a paper route for many years in Marysville on third and fourth street. Worked at Twin City Foods for about 10 years.

Got married and worked at H & D Glass company for a short while and then at Snohomish County where he worked for about 25 year and retired.

Now he works around the place keeping the yard looking great, as well as Caroline's yard, Elnor Stensruds and Elnor's neighbors, Jay Smith's and other activities.

Enjoys his grandchildren very much.

James obituary

JAMES HOLLEMAN (82), of Mount Vernon Washington, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on January 30th, 2024 after battling PLS for over 20 years. He was surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on June 2nd, 1941, to Neil and Dorothy Holleman of Marysville Washington. He graduated from Marysville Pilchuck High School in 1960 and began working at Twin City Foods. After 10 years with them, he moved on to work for Snohomish County for the next 25 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a hard worker and found many projects to fill his time after retiring at the age of 54.

Jim met the love of his life, Betty (Stensrud) at Marysville Assembly of God where they both attended with their families. He pursued Betty for 6 years until she said "I do" on June 20th, 1964. Together they built their home on Soper Hill in Lake Stevens and started their family. He was not openly emotional but loved deep. He expressed himself best through his actions. Jim enjoyed time camping, fishing, and raising animals with his family. He coached his boy's basketball teams and fulfilled his daughters wish to have a horse. His kids never had to say, "I wish Dad was here," because he always was. He was a true supporter of his children...family always came first. Once grandchildren started to arrive, he noticeably softened. He smiled bigger, Laughed louder, and hugged tighter. They made his beautiful, blue eyes sparkle. Jim and Betty loved to Travel, socialize with friends from church, and attend events for their 8 grandchildren. They were Married for 59 1/2 years creating a wonderful life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Betty and three children. Son Michael (Laura), grandson Austin and great grandson Brayden, granddaughter Ashley (Travis) Coffey and great grandson Wyatt. Son Douglas (Leticia) and grandchildren Neil, Annie (Wesley) Kidd, Logan, and Tristan. Daughter Rhonda (Guy) Martin and grandson's Landon and Parker.
