Our beloved Mimi went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 30, 2008. She will be missed by many, but we rejoice with her as she is reunited with loved ones and free of pain.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Cathedral in the Pines with Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating.
Emma Mildred Partin Biggs was born on February 12, 1917, in Nacogdoches to Maud Shofner and Thomas J. Partin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wiley Allan Biggs, to whom she was married for 54 years before his death on April 25, 1990, and two grandsons, James Keith Biggs Jr. and Wade Hampton Carter.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and James Paine of San Antonio, formerly of Tyler. She is survived by her loving children, Thomas Allan Biggs and wife Jody of Shreveport, La., James Keith Biggs Sr., and wife Sherian of Commerce, Jerry Pat Biggs and wife Sharon of Flint, and Brenda Lee Allen and husband Don of Lindale. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred graduated from high school and attended Stephen F. Austin State University; received a diploma in higher accounting from LaSalle University; worked as an accountant at East Texas Outdoor Advertising for 25 years and was treasurer for Tyler Savings and Loan for 10 years. She was the first woman in Tyler to receive her CPA. She was a member and past President of the Pilot Club of Tyler and shared her many creative talents at their annual country store at the East Texas Fair.
For the past six years she has lived at Sterling House in Tyler and enjoyed her new home and family there. She has blessed so many people in her 91 years and she will be missed so much. Even with her hearing handicap she was always an optimist and never let that stop her professionally and personally in pursuing her dreams. She was a life time member of First Baptist Church in Tyler and was a woman of incredible faith and loved her Lord. She loved you unconditionally and saw the best in everyone. Her philosophy was simple. "To try to correct, forgive and forget the mistakes of yesterday; to have faith that tomorrow will be better and to say with the Psalmist, "This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Today is your day Mimi. We know you are embracing it with Jesus and Daddy.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Mike Carter, Russell Biggs, Brad Biggs, Van Carpenter, David Biggs, Ross Messer and James Harper.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
