John A. Heming was a carpenter who helped build the first Antlers Hotel and the first set of stairs up Seven Falls. He was murdered while working as a streetcar motorman. One of the two murderers, Thomas Lawton, was the first man to be sentenced to hang for a crime committed in El Paso County.
