FORMER CITY RESIDENT DIES
Edith May Clark was born September 14, 1875 in Davis County near Floris, Iowa. She passed away August 1, 1967, in the Drumright, Oklahoma Hospital after an illness of nine weeks. She was the daughter of Samuel M and Margaret Jane Clark. Her parents, six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She moved with her parents when a young girl and lat er to Oklahoma with her parents in 1889. Her mother made the run at the opening settling on a farm near Wellston.
She was married to George W Christy at Chandler, Oklahoma, December 27, 1892. They lived in Ingram, Oklahoma, a town later moved to Wellston, before moving to Oklahoma City. From there they moved to Mound Valley where they lived for a few years before moving back to Wellston, Oklahoma. To this union were born six daughters, Mrs. Hazel Newell of Drumwright, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ruth Doye of Cushing, Oklahoma, Mrs, Freda Poston and Mrs. Lorene Groff, both of Parsons, and Mrs. Nellie Bradburn of Los Angeles, California and four sons, Ivan Christy of Drumright, Harold Christy of Cushing and Ernest B. Trimble of North Ridgeville, Ohio, three step sons, Lee Trimble of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Everett of Ogden, Utah, and Charles of Jett, Oklahoma. Eighteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A brother, R Jessie Clark of Wellston, Oklahoma, and an aunt of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. One daughter, Mrs. Margaret Moser of Cushing, and one son Ira Reise Christy, preceded her in death.
Mr. Christy died in 1914 and she later married Evan Trimble of Merrimac, Oklahoma. He died in 1918. She lived several years in Kansas before moving back to Oklahoma, living 38 years in the vicinity of Hominy, Yale and Drumwright. She lived at her present home on Fairground Drive for over 23 years.
She was baptized into the Christian Church at Floris, Iowa, when a you ng girl.
She fell at her home May 29 and had been in the Drumwright Hospital until her death August 1, at 8:40 a.m.
Services were conducted Friday August 4 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Phares, pastor of the Methodist Church at Drumwright at 10 a.m. The body was taken to Mound Valley for burial by the side of Mr. Christy. Short services were held at the graveside by Rev. Clark of the Methodist Church here. Smith Funeral Home of Drumwright was in charge of the services with the Sperry Funeral Home of Altamont assisting.
Mrs. Trimble was the sister in law of the later Mrs. Margaret Atichson, Mrs. Lottie Burris and Mrs. Belle Ross of Mound Valley.
