Sweet Alice had once been a hospital nurse in Enid. Following the death of her father, John Scott Ford, she devoted her life to Missionary Work, lastly traveling to New Mexico to work with the Indians.

To her close-knit family's dismay and utter sadness, she was never heard from again. The family sent private investigators to find her, without success.

UPDATE Jan 2018: Have found newspaper clips that Alice was the nurse in charge of an Indian Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. (through Sep 5 1919). In 1922, she is superintendent of the government-run Indian Hospital in Dulce New Mexico (maryville-daily-democrat-forum-apr-29-1922-p-3/ she is home for visit w. 3-year-old Apache Indian Lee Martinez, giving presentation)
