Widow of Joseph M. Abate who died April 12. 2007.Bradford: - Alice R. (Amirault) Abate, 96, a life-long resident of Bradford, died on July 24, 2020 at High Pointe House, Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Robert and Alma (Gaudette) Amirault, she attended St. James Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1942. As a young girl, Mrs. Abate worked for the Haverhill Gas Company and later as a Bookkeeper for Shepherd Accounting in Haverhill, and Brentwood Furniture Company.
She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at the Sacred Hearts Food Pantry. She enjoyed taking part in the dancing program at the Haverhill Senior Citizens' Center and was a member of the Mothers of Twins Club.
Predeceased in 2007 by her husband, Joseph Abate, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Jean Abate of Hampstead, NH and Michael A. and Carolyn Abate of Bradford; four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Dale Smith of Danville, NH, Rachel and Doug Coombs of Derry, NH and her twin daughters, Marianne Abate-Day of Ward Hill, and Joanne Nichols of Brentwood, NH; a sister, Laura Cartier and her husband John of Bradford; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Robert Amirault and Stephen Michael Amirault and a sister, Lucy Amirault.
The family of Mrs. Abate would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the High Pointe Hospice House for the wonderful care and comfort given to their mother during her recent stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the The Food Pantry of Sacred Hearts Parish, or to the Saint Vincent de-Paul Society of Sacred Hearts Parish, 48 South Chestnut St. Bradford.
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 10 AM at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St, Bradford, following The Commonwealth of Massachusetts guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
