Dorcas Mattox Christopher, age 87, widow of the late Kenneth Christopher, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at Dover Manor Nursing Home, in Georgetown, Kentucky. A native of Bourbon County, Kentucky, she was born on October 5, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Burden Mattox. She was a member of First Church of God and a retired seamstress of Hansley Mills, with over 45 years of service.
Survivors include: two sons, Steve (Teresa) Christopher and Cecil (Krista) Christopher; five grandchildren, Steve (Paula) Christopher, Emily (Aaron) Warren, Kenneth (Brooke) Christopher, Brandon (Mindy) Christopher and Abby Christopher; two step-grandchildren, Mandy Watts and Katie Watts; several great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Billie Ann Mattox and Della Mattox; a special friend, Jennifer Miller; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: four brothers, Stanley Mattox, Charles Mattox, John Bill Mattox and Jimmy Mattox; and three sisters, Dorothy Osborne, Fannie Berryman and Georgie Stanfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main Street, Paris, by Rev. Tim Pierce. Burial will be at Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be J. Steve Christopher, Chuck Mattox, Stan Mattox, Kenneth Christopher, Brandon Christopher and Cecil Christopher. Memorials may take the form of contributions to: American Cancer Society, 1504 College Way, Lexington, Kentucky 40502; or Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 US Highway 62 East, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home.
