Amanda Ella Abbott, age 89, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton from 4 to 8 P.M., on Tuesday.

She was born January 10, 1914 in Benton County to William and Ernestine (Stelling) Bruger and on November 21, 1933 she married Glenn A. Abbott at Vinton. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1978.

Amanda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed fellowship in the Mission Circle, Mary Martha Guild, Fireside Club and the church choir. For several years she volunteered many hours of service to the Vinton Lutheran Home and was the founder of the Vinton Lutheran Home Auxiliary. In 1971 she was appointed as the Activity Director at the home and served in that capacity until 1981.

She is survived by her seven children, Glenda Gingras of Wheaton, IL, Sherman Abbot and wife, Virginia of Choteau, MT, Steve Abbott and wife, Betty, of Melbourne, FL, Joan Casey of Michigan City, IN, Mike Abbott and wife, Jan of Great Falls, MT, Mary Pates of Cedar Rapids, and Bill Abbott and wife, Lori of Great Falls, MT; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cathy; her sister, Naomi Bruger, and her brother, Robert Bruger. A memorial fund has been established.
