Henry Edmund Cruitt was born 5 August 1868 to Henry Cruit and Eliza Grantham Pugh. Henry's grandfather is William Cruit - immigrant from Devonshire, Devon, England. Henry Edmund married Lydia Jane Truitt in Shelby County, Illinois on 11 Jan 1891. Together they had three children: Luther Willard Cruit, James Newman Cruit and Lula Grace Cruit Maxwell. Family tales state that Henry died from an apparent shooting accident while out shooting crows which had been taking the families' chickens. Death certificate states the shooting was self-inflicted. 1900 Federal census states that Henry's employment was as a Farmer.
