Thomas Mack Marshall, son of Peter and Nora Haddick Marshall, was born August 30, 1911, near Long Lane, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, April 13, 2003, in St. John's Regional Health Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and thirteen days.

On May 21, 1930, he was united in marriage to Ruby Evelyn Mills, and to this union two daughters were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby, on March 29, 1993; three brothers, Jerome, Billy, and Stanley Marshall; and four sisters, Mabel Price, Corrine Egger, Edith Bordeaux, and Ethel Betschart.

Mack is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Larry Matheny, and Helen and Bill Siperko, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Becky O'Halloran, and her husband, Steve, Theresa Walker, and her husband, David, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Tom Matheny, and his wife, Brenda, of Park Forest, Illinois, and Terry Matheny, of Kissimmee, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Stephanie O'Halloran, Matthew and Zachary Walker, and Gage and Sean Matheny; three brothers, Felix Marshall, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Donald Marshall, of the State of Colorado, and Peter B. Marshall, of the State of Arizona; a sister, Harriet Adams, of the State of Oregon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in the Long Lane community. After he and Ruby were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their daughters. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from April 18, 1944 until February 3, 1956, during World War II. He was awarded two bronze stars for the Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. Throughout the years, he worked as a carpenter doing home construction, and also owned several gas stations in and around Lebanon. For the last several years, he had spent the winter months in Florida and the rest of the year in Lebanon.

Mack was a longtime, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon.

He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4107 in Lebanon for many years. He also enjoyed spending time at the Hughes Senior Citizen Center in Lebanon. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mack was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services will be held April 18, 2003 at 10:00a.m. im the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Memorial Park with Full Military Rites. Visitation will be held Thursday Evening from 7-8:30p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.
