OVERBROOK --- Agnes Mae Anderson, 90, Overbrook, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at an Overbrook nursing home.

Mrs. Anderson and her husband farmed southwest of Overbrook for many years. She also had taught in grade schools in the Scranton and Overbrook area from 1929 to 1935.

She was born Aug. 12, 1909, near Scranton, the daughter of Samuel George and Agnes Mae Andreen Carney. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1929, and she attended Emporia State Teachers College. She moved from the farm to Overbrook in 1962.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First Christian Church in Overbrook.

She married James Peter Anderson on April 4, 1936, at Lyndon. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1993.

Survivors include a son, James L. Anderson, Scranton; two daughters, Carol Simmons, Overbook, and Joyce Smithers, Nashua, N.H.; two sisters, Helen Bentley, Topeka, and Florence Ball, Stanton, Neb.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Overbrook. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Greenwood- Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Overbrook, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Osage Fire District No. 4, Emergency Medical Services, or to the First Christian Church in Overbrook in care of the funeral home.
