Lydia Jane Truitt was born Aug 1872 in Shelby, Illinois to Levi W. Truitt and Mary Jane Selby. It is believed that she is their 5th child. She married Henry Edmund Cruit on 11 Jan 1891 in Shelby, Illinois. Together they had three children: Luther Willard Cruit, James Newman Cruit and Lula Grace Cruit. Her husband, Henry, died suddenly and unexpected in 1906. Lydia married again in about 1908 or 1909 to William M. Kingston. Together, they had one son named William L. Kington. Lydia's grand daughter, Marjorie Rose Maxwell Kaufman says that Lydia died in 1954 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. Her body was buried at Bethel Cemetery in Shelbyville, Shelby, Illinois next to her first husband, Henry Edmund Cruit.
